Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Requirements
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (LADC I):
Master’s or doctoral degree in Behavioral Science
Minimum 270 hours training addressing the full scope of TAP 21
300 hours supervised practical training
6,000 hours supervised alcohol and drug counseling work experience
Successfully complete written examination
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor II (LADC II):
Minimum 270 hours of training addressing the full scope of TAP 21
300 hours supervised practical training
6,000 hours supervised alcohol and drug counseling work experience
Successfully complete written examination
Proof of high school diploma or equivalent
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Assistant (LADC Assistant):
Proof of high school diploma or equivalent
2,000 hours work experience in the alcohol or drug abuse field
Minimum 50 hours training addressing the full scope of TAP 21
Successfully complete written examination
