Addiction and substance abuse counselor certification and training courses will prepare you for providing alcohol and drug counseling. Many states have also started to recognize that many people have co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues which require specialized, integrated counseling. In addition to our addiction counseling courses, we also provide online mental health courses. Depending on the state, addictions counselors have a variety of different titles including:
- substance abuse counselor
- drug and alcohol counselor
- addiction counselor
- certified addictions professional
- chemical dependency counselor
- co-occurring disorders counselor
To become an addictions counselor, you must take a set of courses to help you understand addictions and the issues faced by people with addictions. Then you volunteer or get hired at a local clinic to do an internship. Once you have completed your internship hours, you just take and pass the state required exam. AllCEUs offers NBCC and NAADAC approved addictions counselor certification training courses through a basic addiction and co-occurring disorder counseling training track. The online courses address the core functions identified by IC&RC and provide the foundational knowledge for IC&RC certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor, including topics such as: Addiction Basics, Assessment, Anxiety, Documentation, Diagnosis, Domestic Violence, Ethics, Medical Errors, Pharmacology, Relapse Prevention and more…
